- 1982 – 2011: Owner and operator of J.M. Hughes Co., Ltd., a marine survey firm located in
Philadelphia. Scope of services involved commercial vessel inspections and cargo surveys,
including yachts as cargo. We also provided consultation for marine casualty claims and expert
testimony in federal court.
- 1974 – 1982: Worked as a marine surveyor for several firms including American Marine
Services, (1976–1978), and International Marine (1978-1982). Duties included performance of
various types of marine surveys.
